The increasing number of cases of dengue and malaria that we are seeing at the moment in the UK are travel-related, so people have picked them up when visiting countries where mosquito-borne illnesses are transmitted. This has contributed to the spread of vector-borne diseases to areas where they were previously not present, including the UK.
