How has cardiovascular disease contributed to the rural–urban life expectancy gap?

Using Centers for Disease Control and Prevention data on all 51,998,560 deaths in the US during 1999–2019, we first compared, over time, rural and urban life expectancy at age 25. We found that, from 1999 to 2009, the gap between urban and rural counties grew. more in men compared with rural life expectancy.
