Have smartphones and ubiquitous internet access affected sedentary time among children and adolescents?

In 2020, there were more than six billion smartphone users worldwide and almost global penetration. The public health consequences of this increase in sedentary time are uncertain. Sedentary time appears to be unrelated to metabolic health in youth, when moderate- to vigorous-intensity physical activity is taken into consideration.
