Artificial Intelligence in State and Territorial Public Health stevie.mathieu March 17, 2025 - 10:03am Association of State and TerritorialHealth Officials (ASTHO) informatics and innovation leaders gathered to introduce Artificial Intelligence (AI) and its potential applications in state and territorial public health.
For more than 20 years, CSTE has regularly conducted Epidemiology Capacity Assessments (ECAs) to track the state of our applied epi workforce in state and territorialhealth departments. These assessments illustrate whator rather, whois needed to respond to emerging health threats, and where were at risk of falling behind.
There were 91 outbreaks reported by state health departments during the week of Dec. Currently, state, local and territorialhealth departments are not required to report individual cases of norovirus illness to the CDC, and only 15 states participate in the National Outbreak Reporting System. But the data are not comprehensive.
These cuts would severely impact state and local health infrastructures, which rely heavily on CDC support to implement health initiatives and respond to emergencies.
